Pearl River Night Cruise, Guangzhou
When night falls, Guangzhou's skyline ignites — and the classic way to see it is from the deck of a boat gliding down the Pearl River (Zhujiang). The Pearl River Night Cruise is the city's signature evening experience: a 60–90 minute sail past illuminated towers, glowing bridges and the floodlit Canton Tower, with the whole waterfront mirrored in the water.

What You'll See
The route threads through the heart of the city. You drift beneath the sculptural white arch of Liede Bridge, past the soaring Canton Tower and the Zhujiang New Town skyline of supertall towers such as the CTF Finance Centre, then by the colonial-era arcades and the 1930s Aiqun Building along Yanjiang Road. Many boats are double-deckers — head to the open top deck for the best photos.
Piers, Times & Tickets
Cruises depart from several wharves; the most convenient is historic Tianzi Wharf (天字码头), a Qing-dynasty official pier right beside Beijing Road Pedestrian Street. Other docks include Dashatou, Xidi and the Canton Tower pier. Sailings run roughly 18:40–21:40, and a standard ticket costs about 70–120 RMB depending on the deck and boat. For the best light, choose a departure between 19:00 and 20:30 to catch both dusk and the fully lit skyline.

Getting There
Tianzi Wharf sits a short walk from Haizhu Square Station (Metro Lines 2 & 6). Arrive 20–30 minutes early to collect tickets and board. Booking ahead online is wise on weekends and during holidays, when popular sailings sell out.
Tips for the Best Cruise
Summer river breezes are pleasant but bring a light layer for the open deck. Stake out a railing spot before departure for unobstructed views, and remember that the colour-changing lights along the banks usually switch off around 22:00–23:00.
